Meet #51 | 07/06/14 | Hosted by Liz
Liz hosted World Whisky Night (TM), except the Czech one didn't make the party.. so we had two in a blind tasting - would we work out what was what?

Smells
On the nose we have “fresh fizzy fun” - melon, banana, cherry drops..there's a mention of toffee which is quickly shot down - toffee, what toffee, rubbish! That's about as much controversy as this dram would cause. In general “fruity as shit”! There is also some grassy, fresh sweetness – like the juice from a fruit salad...or perhaps “an acidic power that you might find in a lab and not sure if you should lick it”...I know exactly what you mean!
Tastes
Not much said on the taste, people enjoyed it, in an easy-drinking way but found little depth to it...it is just 5yrs old though. Young and woody, fresh oak, with a little chalkiness – nicer and simpler over time.
Finish & Comments
The sweetness continues on the finish, indeed it finishes like the nose, with some menthol, sautéed onions and a little butteriness. .
For info: This young sprightly whisky from Sweden was generally well received as an easy drinking, fruity, sweet dram - although not exactly setting the taste buds alight with excitement. We had a blind tasting on this whisky but everyone instantly recognised it as a young one.
General comments:
- “Yeah they're definitely in full swing and I just heard seagulls too which I always find disconcerting in a city, even after all these years.”
- “Put on another lobster, you fuck.”
