Like a giant cupcake decoration thrown together by your boozy gran, there was a smorgasboard of sweet things on the nose. We found pink marshmallows smothered in treacle next to chunks of pineapple coated in marzipan, creamy chuppa chups lollies dipped in chocolate and vanilla icing sprinkled with pine needles - all held together by a disappointing lack of character.

Granny has sobered up and we moved on to some more finely crafted desserts. We had rhubarb crumble topped with burnt peanuts, ginger cakes - topped with marmalade and chocolate. But what's that nagging feeling of guilt - maybe the cut grass we mixed into the Pfeffernusse.

The finish lasting only as long as the girl next door, but does she live on a farm? wel if she does it's autumn and she's drinking buttermilk as the peppered plums have just fallen from the tree. And why has she left that candle next to those tyres, oh no that's done it, they're burning - how are we meant to taste that ginger liquorice now?
