Meet Deets
Meet #19   |   28/01/12   |   Hosted by Huw
For our first Burns Night Supper, we bought two bottles predicted to go well with the spicy richness of a Crombie's Celebration Haggis! How would this cask-strength Highland Park fare?

Smells
We are starting off fruity, with bananas, peaches and citrus zest - and onto sweet with vanilla tablet and salted caramel. Then we detect a whiff of soft porn, with a french polisher looking to make a garlic pledge with a hot girls gym t-shirt. and mothballs - how do you get their little legs apart?
Tastes
It's the snack counter at York's famous cinema conversion project - as we pass the fire-hardened 13th century oak door we move on to the mixture of sweet and salty popcorn - but we don't want any of that and so get fired into the chewed dandelion, salted cloves, lemon sherbert and rose Turkish delight. Blackjacks or fruit salads? Don't choose, have both and top it off with a tangy yoghurt sorbet (like gentleman's relish).

This is a painting of a house in Highland Park, Texas. I think it speaks volumes.
Finish & Comments
As we wait a lifetime for the buzzer beater finish to drop, we sip cocktails, with the burnt sugar from our Pea and Mint Mojitos and the Tabasco and celery from the bloody Marys. But why are we watching the game? We're on Auchmithie beach and there's a bonfire to be had, stones to skim and socks to ferment.
Cost
~£45 (70cl)
