Meet Deets
Meet #61   |   28/03/15   |   Hosted by Giles
Not only was it the first inaugural Southside Whisky Club Sports Day, but Giles had put on a feast of American whiskies for us to try. Could we cope with 5 bottles after some sandy exertion?
Other bottles sampled:
#123 Balcones Brimstone | SSWC review 61b
#124 Elijah Craig 12yo | SSWC review 61c
#125 FEW Single Malt | SSWC review 61d
#126 Woodford Reserve | SSWC review 61e
Smells
Like a long walk through a field of freshly cut Pritt Sticks, this one had a fairly medicinal / chemical whiff to it, evoking toothpaste, Olbas oil, TCP, WD-40 and petrol. Peppery toothpaste, mushrooms, shortbread and lavender. Marshmallows, rum & raisin ice cream, and highland toffee got a mention, as did “brutal cowboy farts” and “IT BURNS!”.
Tastes
‘Nice’, said one. "Like the Chichibu Chibidaru", said another. We seemed to agree on a lot of hot / sweet flavours here – honey petals (?), spicy cayenne, raisins & bananas, breakfast Weetabix, tart tatin, and deception.

Meet 61   |   Pretty sure this was our first wheat whiskey - it was pretty good.   (6 photos)
Finish & Comments
Chickotine, Tomacco, aftershave (Chypre), limey (cocktail), salted caramel, and black tea got a shout out here. Some disagreement on length of finish, with relatively short and relatively long both having a strong showing. It is all relative.
Cost
~£56 (70cl)
